• Hi Everybody!!

Amelia here wishing you all a very happy holiday season!!! We’ve been so busy since we moved in May to our new home in St. Paul. Everything is so much closer now and we can walk so many places and I have met so many new people and dogs. It’s just been wonderful!!!

I got to meet all my new neighbors and their humans within the first week of being in the new place. One of them even baked us a cake to welcome us into our new home. I didn’t get to have any of it but Matt and Sarah really seemed to enjoy it. It’s also so great having all these low windows I can look out of. Even though we’re right in the city now, there are lots of bunnies and squirrels and deer that come into my yard. They don’t cause any trouble though because they all know how fierce I am….

The only thing that I didn’t really like about the new house was the hardwood floors. See, it’s really hard to chew a bone on hardwood floors and I really love chewing my bones. Matt and Sarah spend a lot of time on the main level playing board games or cooking and I couldn’t be near them AND chew my bones. It was most upsetting for me. Then, this fall, a BIIIIIG box came and it was a new bed for me!!! Sarah put it right next to the table they play games at and now I can chew my bones in my bed or take naps with Melody and still be near the action. It’s the best!!!

We also live near a lot of great parks and the Mississippi River now. When I go on my walks, I get to go down by the river and watch boats and hang out with people on the paths it’s so much fun!!

    Wait…… hold on…. there’s fresh food in my bowl… here’s Melody for a bit.
Good day folks, Melody here. Yes, I must agree with my friend Amelia on how wonderful this new house is. There are so many window ledges in lay in. My favourite is above the sink. I also like to explore on the counter tops and the fridge, but I have to be quick. Matt and Sarah usually yell at me when I pull this stunt. Rather undignified, I must say.

I did have the most unusual time this November though. While Matt and Sarah have left before, I’ve never seen them pack so much stuff. Then they were gone for 10 days!! I had the run of the place. I can’t even begin to the list all of the stuff I got in to once they weren’t present. Two of my friends from next door came over to make sure I was ok and to play with me. I even got to spend Thanksgiving with a stuffed turkey friend! They were the absolute best.

Well, time for me to nip off for another nap. These dark, cold December days are perfect for them!!
Amelia again everybody!! Fresh food is the best…. I’m so full now…. Oh…… I had better sign off on this letter and join Melody for another nap. I hope you all had a wonderful year!! I hope you come to visit in 2017!! I love going about and showing off where we live now! It’s so wonderful!!!!

Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    With Love,
    Amelia and Melody

  • Hi Everybody!!!

We’re so excited to tell you all about our big adventure….. WE MOVED!!! Wow it was a lot of work and it sure seemed to take a long time and I still haven’t found all of my toys yet but I know they’re here somewhere – I can smell them!!

It was really confusing watching all our things go in to boxes for a couple weeks. We didn’t understand what was happening. Bijou had told me about “moving” before and he made it sound really scary but it didn’t seem so bed.

One of my bestest friends in the whole world came over on the big day to help take care of me and Melody while Matt and Sarah worked with the movers. I think I had a different view on that than Melody did so I’ll let her tell that part of the story….
It was *so* undignified what they did to me!! I was forced to sit in the Amelia’s kennel and watch everything disappear. There were so many people there that I could have snuck up on and attacked but no…. I was locked in a kennel. Something about “for my own safety” and “the cat can’t get outside!” Whatever. Lame. I tried to chew my way out but that didn’t work either. At least when they were done I got to roam around the house with it empty and pretend I was stalking things on a big savannah. That was a lot of fun. Hey – I need to go check something out in a window….. I’m going to let Amelia take back over.

Yeah… Melody didn’t have nearly as much fun as I did that day…

But that night when we got to come over – Wow!!! What an adventure!! Boxes and things and stuff was everywhere. I was running around like crazy trying to find everything and explore it all. It was great!!

I love my new home!! There are so many people and dogs around and everybody is friendly and wants to play with me. It’s also close enough to walk to places to eat so I can lounge on a patio and take in all the action in the big city! And….. and this is the best part…. It’s only 10 minutes to my favorite place in the whole world – Northbound!!!

Anyways – there’s a lot of unpacking to do. We got to make sure we have everything ready for the big party.

    Hope to see you soon!!!!!!

  • Hi Everybody!!!! Amelia dog here!!!!! I hope everyone is doing well and having fun!! Time for our annual letter to let you know how it’s going here in Minnesota and wow do we have a lot to talk about this year!!!

First, the sad news. My best friend Bijou, who normally writes the first part of our letter, died in May. He had been sick for a while. He was so awesome and I miss him a lot.

2015-05-25 20.02.37At the end of May, Matt & Sarah put me in the car and we drove FOREVER. When we finally stopped we were in a place called Fort Collins, Colorado and it was great!! I got to go on huge walks and I got to visit so many breweries and I even got to go inside most of them!!!!

    CarHenge

In November, they put me the car AGAIN and drove forever AGAIN but then I got to meet my awesome cousin Sampson! Then I was dropped off for 5 whole days at Camp Bow Wow and I was SOOOOO tired. Matt & Sarah went to a place called “Toronto” and then “Ottawa”. I don’t know about those places…. They sound like they’re in another country.

After we got back, I was just getting settled, and then…. I…. I can’t even begin to describe it. Matt came home and he had a KITTEN!!!!! Right away we were bestest friends and we do EVERYTHING together. It is so awesome having a friend. Here… I’ll let her introduce herself!!!

MelodyFireplaceWell hello there! My name is “Melody Get Down From There!” but you can just call me Melody. I’m 10 months old and love nothing more than stealing the dog’s food, playing chase, and cuddling up with everybody. I’ve only been here a couple of weeks so I’m still getting use to things. Normally I just lay on the keyboard not use it so I’m sorry if my typing is a little off. I want to… Wait… Did you see that? The red dot!! It’s back!!!! I must capture it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I guess that’s all Melody had to say. Time to close this out and get back to real business – napping on the couch listening to music!!! We all hope you come out to visit us next year. I really want to show all y’all around Minneapolis & St. Paul and look forward to cuddling with you soon. Melody and I love all the attention!!!!

    Love,
    Amelia and Melody

P.S. The new Saints Stadium had bubbles!

  • Hello Everyone,

It’s been a rather peaceful year here in Minnesota. This is the longest I’ve been in one place since I moved in with Matt and Sarah back in 2005. It’s been nice not having my world thrown in to chaos, outside of the dog coming last year, for so long.

I am getting little older now (I’ll be 13 in April) so I did have to have some dental work done in the spring. I had three teeth removed. Holy cow do I feel like a new cat. It hurts so much less, I have a lot more energy, and the vet gave me this pill to help with my joints. I can now jump silently and they never hear me coming.

Amelia and I have become pretty good friends over the last year, especially after the spring. In fact, she’s sitting next to me now (HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) getting ready for her turn on the keyboard. We’ve gotten really good at sharing the bed and the couch, and we even do well sharing the pillows. Matt and Sarah aren’t big fans of this at three in the morning but they can move. Everybody knows pillows are for the pets.PillowsAreForPets

    I guess I’m not sure what else I have to…. Ow…. Say…. Ow… Amelia, I’m still typing…(NO YOU’RE NOT MY TURN!!!!!!!)

    HI EVERYBODY!!!!!

I can’t believe what a great year that this has been!! I got to do so many things and see so many people!! In June, I got to go to my first professional baseball game at the St. Paul Saints stadium. I had so much fun lounging next to the press box. It was a really long game though, 14 innings. I put on my rally cap though and the Saints pulled through! How great is that!!! ()

I’ve also had a lot of fun playing with all the little kids that Matt and Sarah’s friends keep bringing over. It is so much fun when the humans are the same height as me! Lately though a couple of them seem taller than I remember… I’m worried about this.

Matt and Sarah also keep playing this fun game called pool! I don’t really know what it is, and sometimes it’s really loud, but whenever they play it Bijou comes down and spends time with me and I get to play with my squeaky ball, and everybody has so much fun!!! And ooo!!! Squeaky ball!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, now that the dog has left, we can close this letter out properly. I hope all of you had a wonderful 2014. I always like laps to sit in and new people to cuddle with so please feel free to come out and visit me (US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) in 2015. Since it’s not an election year, there will be lots of time to hang out.

Hope all of you have a wonderful 2015!!!!

    Love,
    Bijou and Amelia

  • Hello,

195 Days. It has been 195 long, painful days. You can’t begin to understand what I’ve been going through these last few months. Everything is wrong. Nothing is right. I don’t even know where to begin.

This past winter was wonderful.BijouCouch The fireplace was going, the house got a fresh coat of paint on the inside, the new colors are warm and inviting, and there were so many great places to lay. New furniture came in April and it was great. I have a brand new purple chair that I love to sit in and a couch in front of the big picture window that I get to look out of.

Then it happened. June 7. Matt and Sarah came home and I was swept off to the basement. I didn’t know what was going on. I’m not usually shut down there. It was very confusing and something smelled different. I couldn’t quite place it though.

That night, there was a strange noise coming from the bathroom. I’d never really heard it before but it didn’t seem right. The next day I was shut in the basement again. I couldn’t get answers. Finally, Matt and Sarah went outside and I sat to watch them in the window. Then I saw it. I couldn’t believe what they had done.

    AmeliaRedGuy

A dog. They had gotten a dog. A puppy to be precise. 4 months old. Full of energy. A disaster.

It’s been a long 195 days since then. I tried to beat the beast into submission but my lack of front claws made this highly ineffective. She just thought it was a game. I finally learned that they were calling her “Amelia”. I tried to ignore the dog, that didn’t work either. She kept following me around. Matt and Sarah kept saying “she just wants to be friends” but I don’t. I just don’t know.

Amelia and I have slowly started to come to an accord. We found a mutual like for the couch and we lay up there together sometimes. We also can share the bed with Matt and Sarah. Even I have to admit it is nice having another critter around the house with me, it was getting a little lonely during the day.

I’m hoping the next few months we can continue to come to an arrangement on how things will work around here. Given her height, I may even find her useful and we can really team up for some adventures.

I hear tags. The dog is coming. Time to run.

Happy Holidays and have a wonderful 2014!

    Until next year,
    Bijou

    ————————–

    …. Hello? Hi? Hello!!!!

Oh… I’m not sure what I’m doing…. This is strange. I’ve never typed before…. This is going to take some practice I think…

My name is Amelia and I’m the new puppy!!!! I can’t tell you how great it is I am here. This is just the best house ever in the whole wide world and I am soooooooo happy to be able to stay here.

ZebraI came up from Alabama to the Humane Society when I was 3 and a half months old and it was really scary and I didn’t know what I was going to do. They had me in a really, really big cage though so it wasn’t too bad.

One day I was sitting there and all of a sudden two people walked in and stopped and looked at my cage and they just stared at me for a while and I was really excited to see them but I didn’t want to scare them so I just sat there and I didn’t make a sound and I didn’t jump because I didn’t want them to be afraid of me. (I’m really, really fierce you know….)

Finally they opened up my cage and they Indeedsaid we want this one and I got to go home with them and it has been the best thing EVER!!!!! I got to go on so many adventures around the City it was great. They took to me all of the bars and patios and everybody there spoiled me. I got all sorts of doggy treats and water and pets and it was just awesome.

Over the summer, my friend from across the street came over and played with me during the day while Matt and Sarah were at work so I didn’t get lonely and so I had a chance to take a quick trip outside. I was really sad when she had to go back to school and Matt and Sarah had long days but then they found out about Day Camp and it was the best thing EVER!!!!!! Now, when Matt and Sarah have a really long work day, I get to go to day camp and run around and play with all of my puppy friends for 8 hours!!!! I come home and I am soooooooooooo tired that I can barely get up on the couch.

PuppyBootsNow that winter is here I am a little sad. I don’t get to go out to the patio’s anymore because of snow. I also have hard time going outside because my coat is so thin and my paws get cold and it starts to hurt and it makes me sad because the snow is so much fun but I don’t like that my paws get so cold. Sarah found some puppy boots though and a jacket and now I can wear those on my walk and I get to RUN and JUMP and POUNCE and do whatever I want in the snow because I don’t get cold.

I am really, really excited because in a few days I get to go on a BIG road trip back to Michigan to meet a whole bunch of people. I may have even met some of you before you got this card…. I’m fast like that… FAST PUPPY!!!!!

I can’t wait to see all of you and give you kisses and say hello!!!!!!!

    2013-07-03 20.49.37-1Love,
    Amelia

  • BijouClaimsYouHello Again Everybody,

Thanks to something called “Nyquil”, Matt is passed out on the couch and left his laptop unlocked. I thought I would take this opportunity to write you another letter and let you know how my year has been.

Things didn’t start off so well when we found out that my sister Kittle had very advanced lung cancer. Sadly, she died the first weekend of the New Year. I got to say my good-byes though and things are going much better now.

For the first time in I can’t tell you how long I didn’t have to watch all my stuff get thrown in boxes and moved someplace new. I’m excited about this but still leery. Boxes keep showing up but Matt and Sarah claim that it’s for their friends that are moving.

I did get to meet and hang out with a lot of people in October when Matt and one of his friends had their 30th birthday party here. Lots of people were paying attention to me and only three of them started getting red and sneezey around me. All in all, it was a good time.

Since this was a redistricting year AND an election year, Sarah was very busy. Matt and I spent a lot of time reading and playing video games together. Really, he did most of that stuff. I would just lay next to him and sleep. Once the fall rolled around, things got really busy. I started to miss Matt and Sarah and I was pretty lonely. I ended up giving myself an eye infection and was forced to wear the “Cone of Shame” for 10 days. I’m still planning my revenge….

Since then, things have been great. Matt and Sarah are around a lot, there’s lots of movie time to be had, the fireplace has been going, and friends keep coming over to visit and play with me. There’s always room for more though so please come visit!

Happy Holidays and here’s to a wonderful 2013!!!

    -Bijou

  • Hello Everybody,

For some of you it’s been a while since you’ve heard from us. Most of you have never met us. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Bijou and I am one of the furry friends of Matt and Sarah. My sister Kittle and I (she’s rubbing her head on the floor… there’s something not right with her) have been living (and moving everywhere) with Matt and Sarah for 6 years now. As much as you may have heard them complain about moving, trust me when I say we hate it more. And they don’t stop moving. Every flippin’ year it’s going to a new place.

The year started out calm and peaceful enough. Sarah was staying at home doing odd projects for the Democratic Party (DFL) in Minnesota and Matt was still working for the software company. They kept disappearing though looking for a house. This made me uneasy. I had managed to stop this plan last year but now they seemed determined.

In May, my world fell apart. Matt and Sarah were never around. Sarah had a full time job with the DFL now and they were getting ready to remodel their office. Matt’s company was getting ready to move into a new building they built. And then, worst of all, all of my stuff started going in to boxes. They kept talking about a “closing day” on June 8 and I knew it wasn’t good.

Since then, things have been relatively calm. The boxes have been mostly unpacked. Our food bowls made it safely. There are so many more places to lay now that I don’t know what to do with myself.   Kittle’s favorite spot (since late October) is in front of the fireplace.  I like to stay near the sunny kitchen.

If you’d like to come visit Kittle and me, we plan to have very open calendars in 2012, as it is an election year and we probably won’t see much of Sarah or Matt.

Happy Holidays and Have a Great 2012!
